Mazda RX7 was introduced in the market from the year 1979-85. The Original RX-7 was established as a small, fun to drive, light-drive sports coupe.
In the initial days, it was equipped with 1146cc rotary engine with a total power of 100-hp. RX-7 has great handling characteristics with better power and drive-train from the beginning.
1981-84 RX7
GLS trim with well-equipped features was added in the year 1981; major changes for the vehicle didn’t come until the introduction of GSL-SE trim.
The vehicles in this generation came with a 100-hp 1.3-liter rotary engine equipped with fuel injection system.
Mazda RX-7 Turbo
Later, Mazda introduced RX-7 Turbo featured with 1.3-L rotary turbocharged engine, which generates 182 hp. It could reach the 0-60-mph mark in six seconds. RX-7 Turbo has a superior engine with impressive handling ability.
Mazda has also released convertible 2-seater in 1988. This convertible model was available with exclusively non-turbo 146-hp engine with manual transmission.
The convertible model in the lineup was offered with optional 4-speed auto transmission. RX-7 remained comparatively unchanged from the year 1993.
