The RX 7 is a sports performance car from the house of Mazda and it offers various RX7 engines, based on the power requirements. Though the production of the sports car has been stopped in the model year 2002, it is expected that the revised version of the sports car will hit the car market soon, by the end of 2010.
Engines
The RX 7 models produced during the period 1986 to 1988 was powered by a fuel injected 13B VDEI engine that produces power up to 108 kilo watts and also offered turbo II engine as optional that produces 135 kilo watts of power and this engine was available only in the American car market.
The motor used during the period 1989 to 1992 was upgraded to a better engine management and updated styling model with higher compression ratios and lighter rotors. It was a 5 series FC naturally aspirated engine that produces 119 kilo watts of power and it also offered turbocharged engine that produces power up to 147 kilo watts.
The final generation was a 13B REW model and it was the first ever manufactured sequential twin turbocharger engine. The engine in this generation produced power up to 206 kilo watts. The recent version to the sports car is a 1.3 liter turbocharged rotary engine that produces 255 hp and 217 lb ft of torque.
