This is a sports car produced during the period 1978 to 2002. The most exciting feature in the sports car was its Wankel engine. The model was released as a replacement to the RX3 sports version. This was the only model equipped with a rotary engine other than the Cosmo.
Engine
The Wankel engine used in this model was a twin rotor 1150 cc engine, produced in Germany. Mazada was one of the car producers to use the rotary engine successfully.
Performance
Though the rotary engine used in the car had less weight, the fuel consumption by the engine was very high and this resulted in the decrease of sales. The rotary engine run smoother than the other piston engines and also produces more power. With the powerful engine, the vehicle achieved the fuel economy of 19 miles per gallon in the city premises, while it achieved 29 miles per gallon on the highway roads.
Initially, the model was debuted as a sports coupe. In Japan, the model was offered as 2-seat coupe; where as the same model was offered with additional rear seat units.
